Lieutenant Cletus Laverne Powell age 84 formerly of Lancaster and Columbia died Monday Morning October 28, 2019 at Pee Dee Gardens Assisted Living in Florence, South Carolina The Memorial Service is 11 A.M. Saturday November 2, 2019 at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home Chapel 684 Hubbard Drive Lancaster, S.C. officiated by Bishop Darrell Croft with Visitation to Follow in the Arlington Cemetery Veterans Room at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home. He was born August 6, 1935 In Andrews, S.C. a son of the late Glennie Powell and Sudie Lambert Powell He served our Great Country in The United States Navy during Korea, a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, he retired with The South Carolina Highway Patrol as Lieutenant where he was active with the S.C. Troopers Retired Association, V.F.W., Richland County Sheriffs Office-Project Hope Team, he was a Mason, and Shriner with Jamil Shrine Temple. He is survived by his wife Jessie Knight Powell, 1 Son Russell Powell and wife Juanita Baker Powell of Florence 1 Grandson Baker Chase Powell of California.
