Crecie B Hance

January 25, 1941 — June 4, 2023

Crecie Bowen Hance (Cris), 82, of Fort Lawn, SC passed away on June 4, 2023; born January 25, 1941 in Paw Paw, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lundy and Artiley (Taylor) Charles. She loved Jesus and attended church at First Assembly of God in Rock Hill, SC. Her favorite hobby was crocheting and she enjoyed sharing everything she crafted with others. She was a beloved wife,mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.



At an early age, Cris accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was eager to tell everyone about her faith in Jesus. She had a beautiful smile and loved to cook. Cooking was her love language and she often cooked for the entire extended family. She also loved to walk for exercise and walked at least 2 miles a day up until just a few months before she passed. Now her morning walks are with Jesus.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Bowen and her second husband of one and a half years, Furman Hance; daughter Rita Sue Bowen and son Ricky John Bowen; Brothers: Troy Charles, Granville Charles, Elzie Charles, Lloyd Charles and Paul Charles; Sisters:Laura Charles, Edna Charles, Florie Charles, Earlmel Lester, Maggie Helton, Tilda Dotson, Opal St. Clair and Lennie Vandyke.



Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vickie (Buddy)Hartberger of Fort Lawn, SC; 4 grandchildren: Melissa (Eric) Bowers of Fort Lawn, SC, Megan Hartberger of Fort Lawn, SC, Matthew Hartberger of Greer,SC and Laurin Bowen of Brockettville, Pennsylvania; 6 great grandchildren: Zelda Bowers, Asher Bowers, David Bowen, Malachi Bowen, Cassie Bowen and Aaron Bowen; sister Gertrude Charles of Plymouth, Massachusetts, daughter-in-law Susan Bowen of Colonial Beach, VA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.




In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cris' church -

A Memorial Service will be held on June 16, 2023 at 4:00 pm. The service will be held at First Assembly of God, 1089 Edwards Street, Rock Hill, SC 29732.



A private burial service will be held at Fort Jackson National Veterans Cemetery, Columbia, SC
