Visitation is 1:00-2:00 PM Friday April 24, 2026 at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home with Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM.
LANCASTER, S.C. — Daryl “Scott” Stogner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 24, 1962, in Union County, North Carolina, Scott lived a life that reflected strength, kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of those who knew him best. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 23 years, Lisa Stogner; his daughters, Misty Wood (Ben) of Lancaster, Rebecca Yates (Andrew) of Clearwater, Florida, and Kelly Stogner (T.J. Craig) of Chesterfield; his sons, Justin Johnson and Stephen Clyburn, both of Lancaster, South Carolina; and his 17 cherished grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his brother, David Stogner (Cindy) of Lancaster; his sister, Sheila McManus (Johnny) of Lancaster; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents James Brown Stogner and Mary Rosemond Bull Stogner; one son William Austin Stogner and one sister Debra Ward.
Scott was a man whose life was marked by quiet strength, determination, and deep compassion. He was kind-hearted, funny, and full of light that made others feel welcome, valued, and loved. A devoted family man, and loyal friend to many. Scott lived a life built on love, laughter, and hard work. And although his hands were made for hard work prior to retiring from J&S Construction, a company built by him and his brother - his heart was forever made for his family and the people around him. His greatest joy in life was the people he loved, and he gave that love freely and fully. He was an amazing father and grandfather, a faithful and devoted husband to Lisa. Together, a beautiful love built on faith, laughter, always standing side by side through every season of life.
Scott was a man of great passions and enjoyed life's quiet moments such as being in their shop working on cars or “tinkering” or sitting outside, just enjoying nature. He loved the beach, where the waves and sand brought him peace. His kindness and humor shined through everything he did. He also had a tender love for his pets, especially his beloved Chihuahua, Levi, who held a special place in his heart and was treasured as part of the family.
To know Scott was to know warmth, generosity, and a spirit that could lift even the heaviest hearts. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a helping hand, an encouraging word, or just through his smile and selflessness that would capture the hearts and that could brighten the darkest day.
A member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lancaster, South Carolina, Scott lived with a faithful spirit and a heart rooted in love. Through his testimony, he reminded those around him that a life anchored in faith can remain beautiful even in the face of hardship. His life was a reflection of grace, perseverance, and trust in God.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that this is not a final farewell, but a loving “see you again.” Scott was one of the strongest men we knew—a man who built a life of meaning, faith, love, and laughter. While he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the precious memories he created, in the family he adored, and in the countless lives he touched with his kindness and joy.
