David W. Doyle, Jr.

INDIAN LAND, S.C. David William Doyle , Jr Fortunate to never have met a stranger, David William Doyle, Jr. was born in Brooklyn, NY to David William Doyle, Sr. and Anna Huneke Doyle on July 7th, 1939. He had three brothers and three sisters. He graduated from the first floating maritime high school SS John W. Brown. After, he joined the Army National Guard. At seventeen he met the love of his life, Connie Veronica Virrell and only one week later he asked her to marry him. They married May 14, 1960 and were inseparable for over 60 years. They were blessed with three children, Joann Schmitt, Diane Doyle and David Doyle, three grandchildren, Brian, Alexander and Christine Schmitt, and one great grandchild, Barrett Schmitt. Additional family members are Robert Schmitt, Ron Roman, Anne-Marie Hayes and Jamie Joyner. Also, one very special four-legged kid named Georgette. He believed and lived, "Where theres a will, theres a way." For nineteen years Dave worked for the NYC Board of Education. In 1972, he became an inventor and patented two high security locks. In 1981 the family moved to Charlotte, NC where he worked for First Union Bank and then for the Harris YMCA. During those years he also operated a commercial cleaning company with his wife and son-in-law Robert Schmitt. When Dave retired, he embraced his passion of jewelry design and was soon to be known as the "Earring Man." In 1982, he joined the Knights of Columbus and until recently, helped raise thousands of dollars for children charities. Dave was a man of integrity, who was loved and cherished by his friends and family. He often shared his loving support to strangers and always left someone feeling more confident about themselves. He was a "dream whisperer" and encouraged EVERYONE he met to follow their dreams. If you needed a boost of confidence, you only needed to run into Dave Doyle. On August 2nd, 2020. He was at home surrounded by his loved ones helping him transition into his next journey. That evening a true angel ascends! In celebration of the wonderful life of David William Doyle, Jr. we will be having a mass at St. Philip Neri on August 15th at 10am. To keep all of Daves friends and family safe, social distancing and masks will be mandatory and unfortunate we will not be gathering afterwards were asking no one to travel by plane or drive for more than two hours by car.
