Debra Anne Gaddy Hatley, born on January 12, 1961, in Coronado, California, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care, surrounded by her loving family. Debra was a devoted mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit and generous heart.
Debra’s funeral service will take place on March 21, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM at Jerry L. Hartley Funeral Home in Lancaster, South Carolina. Following this service, she will be laid to rest at BerryHill Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 2:00 PM.
Throughout her life, Debra served our great country in the Navy and later dedicated herself to her work as a cashier at Walmart, where she became known for her warm personality and thoughtful gestures, especially her love for handing out stickers to the kids who visited her checkout line. Her engaging smile and kindness created memorable experiences for customers and coworkers alike, embodying her commitment to nurturing joy in everyday moments.
Debra's faith as a member of the Christian Pentecostal community was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her values and interactions. She built a legacy of love and support amongst her family and friends, offering encouragement and warmth in both fleeting encounters and deep relationships.
In her own family, Debra is survived by her sons, Robert Lee Gaddy and Donald Lee Hatley Jr., her daughter-in-law Rida, and her daughter Renee Anne Hatley, and her brother William Ray Gaddy Jr., who cherished their bond.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, William Ray Gaddy Sr., her mother, Gwendolyn Anne Beach Gaddy, and her brother Richard Allan Gaddy. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, shaping the person she became.
As we remember Debra Anne Gaddy Hatley, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, faith, and kindness. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, a testament to the enduring impact of her gentle spirit.
