LANCASTER, S.C. Mrs. Helga Emma Plyler age 83 wife of the late Ira Boyd "Cotton" Plyler died Saturday September 10, 2022. Helga was born in Fulda, West Germany on June 24, 1939 to her parents Valentin Wingenfeld and Frieda Dehler Wingenfield. She came to the United States in December of 1959. She worked as a Supervisor at US Textiles for many years. Helga became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1989. She loved traveling, having visited several countries and almost every US State. Helga enjoyed cruising and embarked on over 75 cruises. She enjoyed Friday evening Moose Lodge dinners, the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR racing.Helga had two children: Darla Braddock (Jimmy) of Chattanooga, TN and Brenda Campbell of Lancaster, SC. She had six grandchildren: Ryan Sneed (Lisa) of Hendersonville, NC, Christy Helms (Paul) of Monroe, NC, Stewart Sneed of Columbia, SC, Kellyn Sneed, Johnathan Campbell of Clanton, AL, and Tyler Campbell (Kayla) of Lancaster, SC. She had four great grandchildren: Mia Edwards, Bradley Knapp, Brandtly Bagby, and Millie Bagby. She had one great-great grandchild: Oakley Ann Hildreth. Helga was pre-deceased by her great grandaughter Colbie Bagby. The family will receive guests at the home and that respects can be paid from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm on Tuesday September 13, 2022 at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home with the graveside service and burial to follow at 3:00 pm at Lancaster Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project. Mrs. Plyler is in the Care Of Jerry Hartley Funeral Home, 684 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, S.C. .
