LANCASTER, S.C. Mrs. Janice Heilman Pepper age 83 wife of the late Chief Petty Navy Officer James Pepper died Sunday November 23, 2025 at MUSC Health Lancaster.
The Visitation for the Family will be from 11:00 TO 11:30 Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home 684 Hubbard Dr, Lancaster S.C. 29720. The Funeral Services are scheduled at 2 P.M. Tuesday December 2, 2025 by Rev. Bobby Strother at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C. and she will be laid to rest beside her husband Chief Petty Navy Officer James Pepper who died in 2021.
Mrs. Pepper was so Proud to be a United States Navy Wife and shared everywhere she went. During the time when he was out to sea she became one of the first Ombudsman which means the wife of the sailor would call and visit each other also as a military communicator. She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Lancaster S.C. She loved quilting, sewing, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also noted for her generosity to invite everyone to dinner, and had the most giving heart.
Mrs. Pepper was born December 10, 1941 a daughter of the late Mr. Dalvin Heilman and Bessie Lee Phillips Heilman ""She was a U.S. Navy Wife as she would always say".
Mrs. Pepper is survived by three Sons James Mark Pepper (Sonya), John Dalvin Pepper (Lisa), and Daniel Carey Pepper (Tricia) a daughter Jennie (Bill) Parshall, 16 Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren a sister Beth Heilman. The Family Suggest Memorials to Covenant Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
