Jean Steele Small

LANCASTER, S.C. Jean Elizabeth Steele Small, 76 , died Saturday at MUSC Lancaster. The funeral service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday at the Jerry Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charlie Simpson with burial at Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM, Monday, January 25, 2021. Jean was born in Lancaster County on September 16, 1944 to the late Robert Eugene Steele and Leone Faile Steele. She retired from Springs Memorial Hospital. She was a licensed cosmetologist, a certified phlebotomist, and a Guardian Ad Litem appointee. She was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church. Jean is survived by a son, William C. Murphy , Jr (Suzette ), a brother, Johnny Steele (Libby) and sisters, Bonnie Denton and Hilda Plyler. Jean had two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and her special caregiver Lola Catoe. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Joanne Murphy and her husband Donnie Small Sr. Family request any memorials be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church, " Leone Steele Ramp Fund", at 1898 Flat Creek Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
