LANCASTER, S.C. Mrs. Jessie Lee Springs McDonald Carter age 88 died Wednesday March 6, 2024 at MUSC Health Lancaster, S.C.
Jessie was born in Kings Street, S.C. May 12, 1935, the daughter of the late Fred Aaron Springs and Frances Leila Ganes Springs.
The Visitation Service for Jessie will be 12:00 PM followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday March 12, 2024, at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home. The burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Jessie was employed at Springs Mills for 25 years, she was a member of Ashland Baptist Church in Ashland, LA. Jessie's favorite TV show was Walker Texas Ranger, enjoyed reading her bible, crossword puzzles, and putting puzzles together. Her family referred to her as the cookie monster as she loved "Little Debbie Cakes.
Jessie was a loving wife, to her late husband William McDonald. A loving mother and the most amazing grandmother a child could ask for. She was the storyteller of the family to make sure we all knew where we came from and one of the joys she had was growing up with her siblings during the depression.
Jessie is survived by 4 daughters; Debra Annette Jenkins, Shenell Knight (Wayne), Rita Faye Duncan (Michael), Tammie Lynette Mathews (James), 13 grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, 15 Great Great Grandchildren, 1 brother JR Springs.
In addition to her parents Jessie is preceded in death by 1 son-in-law Michael Rudolph Jenkins, 2 brothers Aaron Springs and Therman Springs, 4 sisters Maggie Hinson, Mildred Powell, Annette Mahaffey, Carolyn Poston.
