Judith Arlene Leach Anderson

February 16, 1949 — August 10, 2025

LANCASTER, S.C. With profound sadness, we share the peaceful passing of Judith Arlene (Leach) Anderson on August 10, 2025, at the age of 76, in Lancaster, South Carolina. Born on February 16, 1949, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Ruth (Page) and William Leach, Judy lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and deep love for her family and friends.

A 1967 graduate of Ladoga High School in Montgomery County, Indiana, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Indiana University. Judy dedicated much of her career to teaching middle school in the Martinsville, Indiana, school district, where she touched many young lives.

Outside of the classroom, Judy had a passion for showing her paint, palomino, and quarter horses alongside her son, Eric Carter. She also found joy in gardening, cooking, and crafting—pursuits that blossomed into lifelong talents.

In early 2025, Judy was diagnosed with ALS. She faced this challenge with courage and grace, drawing closer to her family and faith during this difficult season. While she will be dearly missed, those who knew her take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Cecil Dale Anderson; children, Eric Carter, Kendra Anderson, Stephanie Sandefur, Richard Carter, Pam Johnson, and Robert Carter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Vonnie Leach, Dennis Leach, and Duane Leach.

Judy was preceded in death by her prior husband, Major David Carter (2004).

A service will be held at Neal and Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville, Indiana (date and time to be announced).

Rest in peace, Judy—you will be forever loved and remembered.

The Funeral Arrangements are being directed by Jerry Hartley Funeral Home 684 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, S.C. 29720. Funeral Home Phone # 803-285-8000.
