"Melody" Starkey, born on December 10, 1949, in Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at MUSC Lancaster. With a life marked by devotion to family and a passion for creativity, Melody leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who knew her.

Melody dedicated many years of her professional life as a Secretary in the Parts Department at Harrelson Ford, where her diligence and warm spirit were deeply appreciated. Beyond her career, she was a vibrant individual whose hobbies and interests painted a fuller picture of her artistic soul. Melody had a true talent for painting, crafting, and decorating, with a keen eye for flowers and design that suggested she could have excelled as an interior designer. Her fondness for these pastimes brought beauty and joy not only to her home but to the hearts of those around her.

Known for her simple pleasures, Melody especially loved going to town to shop, a small joy that brightened her days and connected her to her community. She was a woman who found happiness in the details and moments of everyday life.

Melody's family was central to her life and continues to honor her memory. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Johnny "John" Starkey Sr, who stood by her side through life's journey. Their enduring partnership is a testament to love and loyalty. Also surviving her are their son, Johnny R. Starkey Jr, and daughter-in-law, Glenda Starkey; their daughter, Judy Evelyn Faulkner, along with her husband Chad Faulkner; as well as four cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward Melody’s legacy of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Harry Blaising and Eunice Evelyn Hite, whose memories she held dear throughout her life.

Services to honor and remember Melody will be held at the Jerry Hartley Funeral Home , located at 684 Hubbard Dr, Lancaster, SC 29720. Visitation will take place on April 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. The burial will be at Osceola Methodist Church Cemetery at 6575 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster, SC, starting at 3:00 p.m.

She touched the lives of many with her warmth and dedication, leaving a lasting impression that will be remembered with great affection and respect.
