Lester Henry Cragan Jr

LANCASTER, S.C. Mr. Lester H. Cragan Jr. age 79 died Friday, September 30, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday at The Jerry Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Father Phillip Gillespie, and Rev. Glenn Rieblin, with entombment to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum, Visitation with the family will be from 1-3 PM. before services at the funeral home. Mr. Cragan was born January 17, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island a son of the late Lester Henry Cragan Sr. and Marion Lou Edwards Cragan, and was married to Anne Dolan Cragan. Lester came to Lancaster in 1973, and worked as manager of Hardees Resturant for many years, he was a member of Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Chairman of Dixie Youth Baseball Organization for many years. Lester is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anne Cragan of the home, 3 sons Lester Cragan III and wife Janet of Concord, N.C. Mark Cragan and wife Ginger of Clover, S.C. and Sean Cragan and friend Paula, 1 daughter Cheryl Anne Cragan Horton and husband James 'Alex' Horton all of Lancaster 1 brother Donald Cragan and wife Shirley of Grafton, Mass. 3 sisters Patricia Christy and Lou Ann Weber both of Warwick, Rhode Island and Mary Ellen Smith of Foxborough, Mass, 6 grandchildren Clayton Cragan and wife Lindsey, Ashley Gentry and husband Joseph, Victoria, Hannah, Brock, and Samantha Cragan; 2 great-grandchildren Austin and Nathan Gentry and 1 on the way. He was pre-ceded in death by a brother Robert Cragan. The family suggest memorials to St. Catherine Catholic Church Building Fund 720 West Meeting Street Lancaster, S.C. or to Hospice Care of South Carolina. The Jerry Hartley Funeral Home 684 Hubbard Drive Lancaster, S.C. is taking care of Lester and his family .
