Linda Elaine Covington

RICHBURG, S.C. Mrs. Linda (Lanie) Covington age 60 passed away at her sister's home Saturday Evening September 21, 2024.

Lainie grew up in Charlotte, NC, and attended East Mecklenburg High School. She went on to pursue a career in the arts, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She made Asheville her home for most of her adult life, working in various jobs ranging from a waitress, to a graphic designer and an Airbnb hostess. Lainie was an old movie buff, with a passion for pre-code Hollywood films. She was a multi-talented entrepreneur with a distinct flair for fashion, held passionate opinions about almost everything, and was an unabashed liberal. She played a major role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, and was adored as the "cool aunt."

She will be dearly missed by her family, Catherine Covington-East, Carol Covington and James Huff, Tricie Covington Marshall and Doug Marshall, Charlie Covington and Karen Ives, and her dear friend Trish Marshall, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and her beloved dog, Hiro.

A celebration of Lainie's life will be held on Saturday, October 19th, at 5:00 PM at Lainie's home.
