In Loving Memory of Margaret Medlin Graves

May 13, 1942 – March 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Medlin Graves, who
departed from this world on March 4, 2025. Margaret was born on May 13, 1942, in
Pageland, South Carolina to Clyde and Johnie Medlin. She grew up in Pageland, SC
and graduated from Pageland High School. She then earned a degree from Columbia
College. She was married to her loving husband, Dick Graves, for 57 years. She
stayed at home and raised her children and went back to work as a math teacher in the
early eighties. She retired from Lancaster High School after teaching math to middle
and high school students for over 20 years. She was an avid collector of many things,
including hand-made teddy bears, ugly face jugs, hummels, and pottery; often spending
her weekends along with her sister hunting for jewelry, pottery, and other unique
collectable items. Her family will continue to cherish all of her collections.

From an early age, Margaret loved fast cars with her last car being a convertible BMW
with a "Clemson Grandma" sticker on the back. She was a huge Clemson Football fan,
along with her husband, and never missed a game. Even after they had stopped
attending games in person, they watched every game on TV.

Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her
daughters, Sandy (Russell) Swaney of Charlotte, NC, and Marty (Christopher) Ross of
Charlotte, NC; her grandsons, Ryan Swaney, Holden Ross, Clayton Ross, and Corbin
Ross; daughter-in-law, Donna Graves of Lancaster, SC; her sister, Martha Watson of
Pageland, SC; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Lorna Graves of Fort
Mill, SC; her nieces, Meg Sellers of Ruby, SC and Kris Grant of Columbia, SC; and her
nephew, Kelly Knight of Pageland, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Graves; her parents, Clyde
and Johnie Medlin; her son, Scott Graves; her grandson, Alex Swaney, and niece,
Jessica Graves.

A graveside service will be held on Friday March 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Graves Family
Cemetery in Pageland, SC. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Margaret's life.
Arrangements are with Jerry Hartley Funeral Home, Lancaster, SC, 803-285-8000.
