Mary Brown Hunter Sistare

Mrs. Mary Brown Hunter Sistare, age 92, wife of the late Carroll Keith "Buck" Sistare passed away peacefully Tuesday morning April 15 th , 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in Lancaster County on June 26, 1932.

The funeral services for Mary will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, on Monday April 21st, 2025, at 3pm located at 1734 Antioch Baptist Church Road, Lancaster SC 29720.

The family visitation will be from 2-3 pm prior to funeral service, at Antioch Baptist Church Social Hall. Family will not be receiving guests at the home. Pastor Trent McLaughlin will be officiating the service.

Burial Service will be private for family members only, immediately following the service, in the Sistare's Family Cemetery.

Mary was the daughter of the late Mr. Edward and Martha Hunter. Mary was married to her husband, Buck, for 75 yrs. Mary worked for Springs Industry prior to joining her husband in the family business,Sistare Carpets and Floor Covering.

Mary was a woman of great strength and kindness always putting the needs of her family first. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mary loved working in her flower gardens and back porch sitting with her husband.

Mary, was an avid Red Hatter, enjoyed the title of Queen of the East End Red Hatters, for many years. She cherished the friendships that she formed over the years with the Red Hat group.

Mary never missed an opportunity to go antiquing or treasure hunting as evidenced by the pottery collections and antiques she collected over the years and she instilled that desire in her daughters, daughter in laws and granddaughters.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Mike Sistare and his wife Kathy, Tony Sistare and his wife Lori, four daughters Susie Richards and her husband Robert, Cynthia Catoe and her husband Stephen, Ella Howard and her husband Bryce, Hope Roscoe and her husband Paul.

Mary was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, Lori, Pam, Adam, Wesley, Lindsey, Trayce, Kristy, Jeremy, Keith, Cy, Hunter, Jesse, Morgan, Macy, and Kristy.

Nineteen great grandchildren, Mary Catherine, Bob, Christopher, Griggs, Tucker, Haven, JT, Kinsley, Rabon, Bradley, Charlie, Mac, Ansley,Everly, Graham, Dayton, Kyra, Michael and Tyler.

Two great, great grandsons, Palmer and JB.

Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Taylor and Carrie Styles and two brothers Edward Hunter and Julian Hunter.
