LANCASTER, S.C. Mr. Perry John Thompson age 81, affectionately known as ' The Banana Man' died Friday Night May 19, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, S.C. The Funeral Service will be 12NOON Tuesday May 23,2017 at Hermon Baptist Church on Highway 200 North by Rev. Les Thomas, Rev. Rex Faile, and at the graveside by Rev. Larry Underwood, burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The Visitation and gathering of friends will be from 57 P.M. Monday evening at Jerry Hartley Funeral Home 684 Hubbard Drive Lancaster, S.C.Perry was born August 5, 1935 in Miami Florida a son of the late Gary Thompson and Hilda Annucci Thompson. He was a retired truck driver, and a used car owner in Miami, Florida, he was an ordained minister, where he witnessed in prisions, both South Carolina and North Carolina, a Volunteer with JARRS, member of the Gideons International, and served our great Country in the United States Navy for many years.Perry is survived by his best friend and long-time companion Ruth Thompson of Lancaster, 1 sister Delores Dellsava of Miami, Florida, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.JERRY HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME 684 HUBBARD DRIVE 285-8000 LANCASTER, S.C.
