In Loving Memory of Rodger Dale Knight
Rodger Dale Knight, a devoted servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 8, 2026, at 5:44 AM. For Rodger, work was never just about business—it was an opportunity for ministry. As a longtime insurance agent covering several counties across the state, he spent years building genuine relationships with his clients. He frequently used the time spent in their homes and businesses to witness to them, often sharing the Gospel of Christ right alongside his professional advice. To Rodger, the spiritual well-being of those he met was always the highest priority. His life in the pulpit was a natural extension of that heart for people. Throughout his years as a pastor, he led congregations in several areas across South Carolina. He was a tireless witness who found his greatest fulfillment in leading souls to the Lord. Whether he was standing in a sanctuary or talking to a stranger, Rodger’s mission was always to point others toward the hope he found in Jesus.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Rodger felt most at home in God’s creation. He took great pride in sharing these passions with his children and grandchildren, using those quiet moments in the woods or on the water to pass down knowledge and life lessons that will last them a lifetime. His greatest earthly joy was seeing his family grow and walk in the values he held dear.
He lived his life anchored by the promise of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Rodger is survived by his two sons, Jody Knight and his wife Cristy Knight, and Stephen Knight. He leaves behind a legacy of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion, Betty Love Odom; his former wife, Nancy R. Knight; his brother, Gary Knight; and his sisters, Imogene Grubbs and Candy Hensley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cledus Knight and Mattie Knight, and his daughter-in- law, Cathy Knight.
Visitation is 12-1 PM Wednesday March 11, 2026; A service to celebrate Rodger’s life will follow at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at: Jerry Hartley Funeral Home 684 Hubbard Dr. Lancaster, SC 29720. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery Great Falls SC.
