Ruth Davis Patterson

INDIAN LAND , S.C. Ruth Davis Patterson, 76, of Indian Land, SC passed away at her home on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Hattie Steele Davis and Lee Bell Davis, of Waxhaw, NC.

Ruth was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Indian Land.  She was best known for using her gift of music.  She loved to sing and served as church pianist there for over 40 years.  She also worked with the youth and was always a part of Vacation Bible School.  Ruth retired from Indian Land Elementary School where she worked as a kindergarten teacher's assistant.

Ruth was married to her husband, Don, for 56 years.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Davis, and brothers Jerry Davis and Donald Davis.

Surviving is her husband, Don Patterson, of Indian Land, SC; her daughter, Teresa Petty and husband Russ (Mya, Wyatt); her son, Stephen Patterson and wife Stephanie (Haley, Tanner, Peyton, Easton); sister, Doris Thurman and husband Jim; brother Ray Davis and wife Brenda.

Funeral services will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2:00pm.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the graveside, following the service.  Reverend Jim Neal will conduct the service.

Heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Lancaster County and to Ms. Sherry Laney, for their care and support during Ruth's extended illness.

Ruth loved working with kids. In lieu of flowers, we invite anyone who wishes to send a memorial to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
