Sarah H Porter

LANCASTER, S.C.

Mrs. Sarah Harris Porter, 80, passed away peacefully in the MUSC Hospital in Lancaster, SC after an extended illness. She is survived by her       husband of 59 years, Mr. Horace H. Porter of Lancaster. She also leaves her 3 children Brian (DeeDee) Porter Sr.; Deborah Renee Porter; and     Hilton (Pamela) Porter.

Sarah is predeceased by her parents, Leonard Marion Harris and Ethel Jane Gamble Harris as well as a sister Brenda Harris.

After graduating from Lancaster High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC, Sarah worked as secretary in Lucille's Vogue. Later    she married and coordinated the bookkeeping for the Sears Store in Lancaster SC as well as the Porter Cattle Farm, the primary family                business; and was a homemaker for over four decades.

Sarah leaves behind 4 sisters and 2 brothers including: Linda (Marius) Cloete, Atlanta, GA; Lenora Anderson, Lancaster, SC; Mary (Will) Wilson, Berthoud, CO; Marion Butch (Sue) Harris, Alabama; Joe Donald (Cecil Joy) Harris, Alabama; and Gloria (Bruce) Small, Lancaster, SC.

Sarah enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren: Brian Ashley (Rea) Porter, Ryan (Whitney) Porter, Rebecca (Bryan) Hill, Tiffany (Samir) Patheal, Heather (Raymond) Payton, Joyslen Porter and Isaac Porter, as well as 11 great grandchildren and one on the way. She loved rocking each one as much as possible she was the kindest soul and loved all children. One of her greatest joys was encouraging others through Jesus Christ. Sarah once said about the mission of her marriage: "We believe that reaching unsaved people to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the most important thing we can do in this life." Sarah lived that motto until her last day on earth, November 29th, 2024.

Visitation and Service will be held Thursday December 05, 2024 at Immanuel Baptist Church located at 9112 Lancaster Hwy, Waxhaw, NC 28173. Visitation will start at 4:30PM and service will start at 6:00PM. Service will be given by Pastor Al Brigman.
