Wendell Eugene Bowers

Wendell Eugene Bowers, 71, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center under hospice care.

A Graveside service will be 11.30 AM Friday May 29, 2026, at Lancaster Memorial Park. Rev. Donald Tillman will officiate.

Born on November 2, 1954, in Lancaster, South Carolina, Wendell was the son of the late Eugene and Eursell Bowers. A lifelong resident of Lancaster, Wendell was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He dedicated over three decades of his career to Springs Industries before transitioning into a meaningful role as a substitute teacher with the Lancaster County School District following his retirement.

Wendell was a devout Christian and a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. His faith was central to his life, and he served as an active member of the Gideon Ministry. He often shared his faith as a guest speaker at many area churches, leaving a lasting impact on those who heard him speak.

Wendell is survived by his daughter Amanda Sane and her husband Scott Sane; two grandsons, Austin Snipes (Ariel) and Avery Snipes; his brother Phillip Bowers and wife Lori Bowers; two nieces, Jessica Bowers and Jennifer Long; and one nephew, Randy Watts. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Bowers, as well as his parents Eugene and Eursell Bowers.

Known for his kindness, hard work, and generosity, Wendell touched the lives of many in his community through both his professional endeavors and personal relationships. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Wendell's memory to honor his giving spirit.
