Lancaster, SC William Edwin Faulkner, a cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully in Lancaster, South Carolina, on March 6, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 2, 1940, in Lancaster, he lived a life marked by dedication to both his profession and family.
William was a skilled Mechanical Engineer, contributing his talents to Springs Mills throughout his career, where he earned a reputation for his diligence and expertise. His commitment extended beyond his career; he proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor.
With a personality that radiated warmth and love, William cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne G. Faulkner, who stood by his side throughout their life together. Their family includes his son, William Mark Faulkner, and his daughter-in-law, Anita Faulkner, as well as his daughter, Cynthia Faulkner Martin. In addition to his immediate family, he was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
William's connection to the community was further enriched through his affiliations with the Masons, the Shiners, and the Hill Billy Clan #2, organizations that reflected his generous spirit and commitment to fellowship.
He is preceded in death by his father, James William Faulkner, and his mother, Lul Jean Faile Faulkner, who instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lancaster on March 10, 2026, commencing at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate William's life, sharing stories and memories of a man who loved deeply and lived fully.
William Edwin Faulkner will be remembered for his unwavering love, his contributions to his profession and community, and the cherished memories he leaves with his family and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
